Raspberry Pi Challenge (Feb 2023)
Join the Raspberry Pi Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN) on peaq and earn rewards for testing the network with live IoT connectivity!
Through peaq control, your Web3 machine command and control center, you can link your Raspberry Pis with peaq’s testnet and use them to simulate connected devices within the peaq ecosystem. This DePIN of mini-computers helps stress-test the network while enabling developers to test their dApps and build new use cases with real-world IoT connectivity. Of course, there are rewards for those joining in, including $25 in USDC once your submission has been approved and a two-stage airdrop once krest, peaq’s canary chain on Kusama, is live.
#Before you start, make sure you have the following in place:
- The basics: a Raspberry Pi and a computer with Internet access.
- A Dework account. You can create one with your Discord account or any wallet that’s compatible with WalletConnect.
#Step 1:
Heads up: A common error occurs after successfully running the script where you need to allow your browser access to talk to your Raspberry Pi, as it’s not an SSL connection. The steps to follow will be displayed in peaq control, but here they are as well:
- Go to the link https://raspberrypi.local/api, raspberrypi in the URL is the domain name of the Pi
- Click on "Advanced" or "More" to show the certificate details.
- Select the option to "Trust this certificate" or "Add exception" or "Proceed to raspberrypi.local (unsafe)" to make your browser trust the raspberry pi hostname self-signed certificates.
- Then, go back to the previous page and click on "Continue" again to proceed.
#Step 2:
Submit proof that you connected a real Raspberry Pi to the network.
- Copy the peaq ID of your Raspberry Pi (you will see the pop-up with peaq ID after the successful connection).

2. Take a picture of your Raspberry Pi in front of the computer and a piece of paper next to it which says “peaq + Current Date”. Please make sure that the image does not feature any sensitive personal information.

#Rewards
- Once the submission has been verified, the device owner would receive $25 in USDC to their wallet of choice on the Ethereum network. The rewards are available for the first 500 devices to join the network, making up a DePIN enabling developers to build and test dozens of DePINs and other projects on peaq.
- The connected Pis will also take part in a two-stage airdrop of an allocated 0.25% of krest’s supply of tokens. The funds will be split among the devices that are connected to the network on that particular day based on how long they had been connected to the network. Half of the allocated amount will be airdropped at the Token Generation Event, and the other half — four weeks after network launch. The token launch date will be communicated soon.
If you need further help or encountered an error, head to peaq’s Discord channel “#raspberry-pi-onboarding-support”. And we’d really appreciate it if you could let us know how you liked using peaq control — use this form to leave us feedback.
