Metamask

This tutorial will show how to:

• Create Metamask account and add peaq network
• Receive $PEAQ tokens
• Send $PEAQ tokens

You will need ~30 minutes to complete this tutorial.

Create Metamask wallet and add peaq mainnet​

1. Open your browser and head to https://metamask.io/
2. Download and install the extension (we are using Chrome browser in the example)
3. Click Add to Chrome
4. Click Add extension
5. A new tab will appear, confirm that you agree with the terms and click Create a new wallet
6. Click No thanks on the next screen
7. Create a strong password (we recommend at least 16 characters, upper and lower case, numbers, and special characters), then set a tick mark and click Create a new wallet
8. Next, you will need to do a backup of your seed phrase. This is the most important part of the wallet setup. Make sure you are in a safe place, with no other people around you. Do the backup on paper only, do not copy-paste or screenshot your Recovery Phrase. Store copies of your Recovery Phrase backup in multiple safe locations. Click Secure my wallet (recommended)
9. Click Reveal Secret Recovery Phrase
10. Once you back up your Recovery Phrase, click Next
11. On the next screen, confirm your Recovery Phrase by entering missing words on the screen. Then click Confirm
12. Now your wallet is created, click Got it to continue
13. Click Next on the next screen
14. Click Done on the next screen
15. Then click Enable
16. This is the screen you will see next. Click on the dropdown arrow in the chain selection area.
17. Click +Add network
18. Click Add a network manually
19. Use the following info to add peaq mainnet manually:

Click Save once all info is entered

20. Then click Switch to peaq mainnet
21. This is the next screen you’ll see.
    CAUTION

    Don’t pay attention to warning messages by Metamask, they appear due to peaq not yet being listed on chainlist.org (registry of all EVM-based chains). Once the network goes live, the warning message will disappear.

    

Receive $PEAQ tokens with MetaMask​

1. Copy your wallet address and send it to the person who plans to send you $PEAQ tokens. Make sure, that the person/exchange is sending tokens using an EVM wallet. If the person sends tokens from the Substrate wallet, the address first have to be converted to the Substrate address.
2. This is how received PEAQ tokens will look like in Metamask UI

Send $PEAQ tokens with MetaMask​

1. Click Send
2. Paste an EVM address (starts with 0x) and then enter the amount of $PEAQ tokens you would like to send. The txn fee will be determined automatically. Then click Next
3. On the next screen double-check your transaction details and click Confirm
4. Once transaction is sent, you’ll see that it has status Confirmed in the UI
5. You can also click on the transaction to see more details and also see transaction status on block explorer.
